After a decade, the first Saudi plane entered Iranian soil
A Saudi airline resumed its flights to Tehran for the first time in a decade, which is seen as another step towards improving Iran-Saudi relations.
A Saudi aviation authority official, who wished to remain anonymous, confirmed this news to AFP and stated that the first flight by Flynas took place on Saturday, May 17th, from Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Airport.
According to this Saudi official, flights to Mashhad are also planned to be added.
Flynas is an airline that offers affordable flights within Saudi Arabia and on international routes.
Previously, Javad Salehi Artimani, Iran’s Deputy Director of Airport Operations, told the state news agency IRNA that Flynas is set to operate 20 outbound and 20 return flights for Iranian pilgrims from the Salam Terminal at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Airport to Jeddah.
