Ahmad Khatami: The Clergy Has Not Fallen Out of Favor

Seyyed Ahmad Khatami, the temporary Friday prayer leader of Tehran, stated that people recognize religious scholars by their simple living and endurance of hardships, and it’s intolerable for people to see a religious scholar building a palace. He added that some say the clergy has lost its influence, but I clearly say that the clergy has not fallen out of favor, and it is us who must ensure that the sanctity of the clergy is preserved through our actions. He emphasized the necessity of face-to-face promotion and speaking patiently with the youth, and mentioned that subversive currents must be named so that people become aware and protect themselves from their harm.
