Ali Motahari: Hijab is not the main issue of the country

Ali Motahari, a candidate for the parliamentary elections from Tehran’s electoral district, said at a press conference today that most of our people observe the issue of Islamic dress, and hijab is not the main issue of the country.

Mr. Motahari, who is participating in these elections with a list titled ‘Voice of the Nation,’ also stated that there is a difference between indecency and lack of hijab, and that norm-breakers are a very small percentage.

The deputy speaker of the tenth parliament also predicted that participation will be higher than the previous elections.

Mr. Motahari’s remarks come at a time when, according to numerous reports, the electoral atmosphere in the country is very cold, and many analysts and credible surveys indicate that the level of participation will be low across Iran.
