Ali Motahari: Overthrowing the Regime is an Illusion, We Must Pursue Reform

Ali Motahari: Overthrowing the system is a fantasy; we should pursue reform.

Ali Motahari said, ‘I don’t have a party, nor was I very determined to participate in this election. I didn’t even have the desire to run, but I became a candidate due to insistence. Initially, I thought I would be disqualified, and I also have this message for the people: I wanted to come forward, but it wasn’t possible.’

He added, ‘We must certainly participate in the elections. We are in a special situation. I do not agree with those who say that by not participating in the elections, we can send a message to the system and reform it in this way.’

The parliamentary election candidate said, ‘We should not abandon the revolution, which was not achieved easily. Those who say we should overthrow this system and establish another one are speaking fantasies. Overthrowing a system is not that simple. It’s not easy to change the system; we should pursue reform. We should not run away from elections and candidacy.’
