Al Jazeera: Iran and the U.S. are assessing the cost of entering negotiations
In an analysis, Al Jazeera quoted Lorenzo Kamel, a professor of international history at the University of Turin, stating that negotiations between Iran and the U.S. have reached a stalemate, but neither side desires to enter into a full-scale war.
Kamel said that Tehran and Washington are assessing the potential costs of entering negotiations, while neither wants to appear weak in front of their domestic public opinion.
He emphasized that achieving peace is much more difficult than winning a war, and without addressing the main structural issues between Iran and the U.S., the influence of mediators like Pakistan and other foreign actors will be very limited.
