Amidst the threat of sanctions, a new nuclear agreement between Iran and Russia is on the way.
Mohammad Eslami, head of the Atomic Energy Organization, announced on Monday, September 21, during a visit to Moscow, that the Islamic Republic of Iran and Russia will sign agreements this week for the construction of new nuclear power plant units in Iran.
Eslami emphasized Iran’s right to peaceful use of nuclear energy and considered this agreement as part of the development of strategic cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector.
The signing of this agreement coincides with the approaching deadline of the snapback mechanism and the return of all international sanctions, and it is unclear to what extent this project can be implemented in the presence of these sanctions.
