The United States has sanctioned dozens of Emirati ships for transporting Iranian goods in violation of sanctions.

On Thursday, the United States imposed new sanctions related to Iran on the shipping company Oceanlink Meritime DMC and its vessels, pointing to the company’s role in transporting goods for the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The US Treasury Department stated that the United States is seeking to isolate Iran using financial sanctions and disrupt the country’s ability to finance proxy groups and support Russia’s war efforts in Ukraine.

The US Treasury Department said that Oceanlink, based in the United Arab Emirates, operates a fleet of dozens of ships heavily involved in transporting Iranian goods, and 13 of the company’s ships are now under sanctions.

The US Treasury Department announced in a statement that a series of US and Western sanctions are targeting Iran’s destabilizing activities in the region and around the world.
