Antony Blinken, the U.S. Secretary of State, has said Iranian officials have killed hundreds of protesters, including children.

In a tweet regarding the sanctioning of several more Iranian government officials, Antony Blinken, the U.S. Secretary of State, stated that Iranian officials have killed hundreds of peaceful protesters, including children, issued harsh sentences such as the death penalty following sham trials, and arrested thousands.

He added that they are sanctioning Iranian officials and an Iranian entity linked to these abuses.

Yesterday, the U.S. announced that it has added Mohammad Jafar Montazeri, the Attorney General, and several officials responsible for suppressing Iranian protesters, as well as a manufacturer and supplier of anti-riot equipment for the Iranian government’s security forces, to its sanctions list.

U.S. citizens and residents are prohibited from engaging in transactions with sanctioned individuals and entities, and citizens and entities from other countries may also face penalties if they engage in transactions with those sanctioned.
