The use of frozen sperm of Ukrainian soldiers has been approved
Ukrainian representatives had passed a law last year allowing military men and women to freeze their reproductive cells for free before going to the frontlines. These representatives passed amendments on Thursday that allow the use of frozen sperm or eggs of soldiers even after their death, a topic that has become a subject of social debate in the country.
The previous provisions of this law considered the disposal of frozen sperm and eggs of soldiers necessary upon their death, which sparked a wave of criticism. Ukrainian representatives promised to revise the law before it is implemented.
In the new amendment to this law, all 264 representatives voted in favor, ensuring free preservation of these samples for three years after death, after which the soldier’s partner can pay to extend the storage.
