Araghchi’s reaction to the activation of the trigger mechanism: Europe’s unjustified action will not go unanswered.
The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic on Thursday responded to the activation of the trigger mechanism by the European Troika, stating that Iran will appropriately respond to this illegal and unjustified action by the three European countries.
Earlier, the foreign ministers of the three European countries, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, along with the EU’s foreign policy chief, informed Abbas Araghchi in a phone call of their decision to officially notify the Security Council to begin the process of activating the trigger mechanism.
They also informed the Islamic Republic that they are ready to find a diplomatic solution within the next 30 days to prevent the return of Security Council sanctions.
Following this phone call, Abbas Araghchi described the action of the three European countries as unjustified, illegal, and lacking legal basis, emphasizing that the Islamic Republic of Iran will give an appropriate response to protect its national rights and interests.
At the same time, Araghchi, while calling the decision of the three European countries regarding the activation of the trigger mechanism incorrect, expressed hope that the European parties would revise their decision in the coming days.
