Araghchi: Oman has agreed not to pursue the alternative corridor in the Strait of Hormuz
Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, said Oman has agreed not to continue pursuing the plan to create an alternative corridor in the Strait of Hormuz, adding that some in the U.S. were trying to establish another route outside the agreed arrangements.
He mentioned the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the U.S., stating that this document envisages the lifting of the naval blockade by the U.S., the gradual resumption of traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, and discussions between Iran and Oman regarding the future management of this waterway and maritime services.
Araghchi also said that if the provisions of the memorandum are not implemented or if the other party takes steps to circumvent or violate it, Iran will respond. He added that there is coordination between the diplomatic apparatus and the military forces in managing developments and preventing the escalation of conflicts.
