Araqchi, in response to Witkoff’s remarks, said they are far from the realities of the negotiations.

Abbas Araqchi, the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on Sunday, May 18th, in response to the statements of Steve Witkoff, Trump’s special envoy for Middle East affairs, who had told ABC News that the U.S. would not allow even one percent enrichment to Iran, said, ‘I think he is completely detached from the realities of the negotiations.’

Araqchi said, ‘Enrichment in Iran will continue. If they are interested in ensuring that nuclear weapons are not produced, we are fully prepared for that. But if they have unrealistic demands, it is natural that we will reach no result.’
