Armin Sohrabian was banned from attending training sessions

Armin Sohrabian, a defender for Esteghlal Football Club, was temporarily banned from attending the team’s training sessions after a video was circulated on social media that, according to media reports, shows him consuming alcoholic beverages.

According to local media reports, Esteghlal Club has announced that this 30-year-old player will not be allowed to participate in training sessions until he appears before the disciplinary committee.

In response to the controversy, Sohrabian stated that the released video is from years ago and was published by someone with whom he has personal conflicts.

In Iran, the production and consumption of alcoholic beverages have been banned since the 1979 revolution, and only non-Muslim religious minorities are exempt from this prohibition under specific conditions.

Esteghlal team will face Al Wasl of the UAE on Wednesday in the group stage of the AFC Champions League at the Shahre Qods Stadium.
