Arrest of an Iraqi on charges of plotting an attack on a Taylor Swift concert

Austrian security officials announced on Friday, August 10th, that an 18-year-old Iraqi man was arrested on Thursday on charges of planning a suicide attack at a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna.

According to AFP, Omar Hijawi-Pirchner, head of the Austrian Intelligence and Security Service, reported that the main suspect is a 19-year-old Austrian who confessed to planning an attack using explosives and knives. The second suspect is a 17-year-old Austrian with Turkish and Croatian heritage who had recently been hired by a service company that was supposed to organize the Taylor Swift concert at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna.

Karl Nehammer, the Chancellor of Austria, said regarding the disclosure of the bombing and suicide attack plan at the Taylor Swift concert that there was a clear and precise plan to cause a bloodbath.

According to estimates, this music concert was expected to generate about 100 million euros in revenue and gather 170,000 fans of the famous American singer at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna.
