Arrest of a Member of the Tehran Mayor’s Office

Mehdi Abbasi, in his pre-agenda warning during the 144th session of the sixth term of the Islamic City Council of Tehran, emphasized that there should be no discrimination in the fight against corruption, saying that according to the statements of the Supreme Leader, anyone who is tainted with corruption will not be able to combat it.

According to ILNA, he added that before the New Year, he intended to raise issues regarding events in the municipality, but the night before last, he realized that one of the members of the Tehran mayor’s office had been arrested due to financial accusations.

Abbasi stated that elements were also arrested last year in the Tehran mayor’s office and raised questions about who brought these individuals into the municipality, gave them responsibilities, and with whom they have financial relationships.

The member of the Tehran City Council continued, saying there are people who have been extorted and wronged, and if deemed appropriate, they are ready to appear in the council chamber, and these events need to be deciphered.

Abbasi emphasized that repeatedly telling falsehoods might convince the public, but it is not believable to him.
