Asif Ali Zardari became the President of Pakistan.

Asif Ali Zardari, the husband of the late Benazir Bhutto, who was the Prime Minister of Pakistan, has been elected as the President of Pakistan for the second time.

According to the French news agency quoting Pakistani media, on Saturday, February 19, Asif Ali Zardari, the widower of the assassinated Prime Minister of this country, Benazir Bhutto, became the President of Pakistan for the second time.

According to this report, Mr. Zardari garnered 411 votes from the provincial and national assembly members against 181 votes given to his rival candidate.

Mr. Zardari’s election as the President of Pakistan took place three weeks after the controversial parliamentary elections in this country, which were held in a highly secure environment and were marred by allegations of fraud.

On February 13, the parliament in Islamabad elected Shahbaz Sharif as the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
