Axios: U.S. gives Iran a 48-hour deadline to present a written proposal

Axios, citing a senior American official, wrote that U.S. negotiators are ready to hold new talks in Geneva on Friday if they receive a detailed written proposal from Iran within the next 48 hours.

According to this official, the Trump administration is awaiting an official proposal from Tehran, and it is possible that the two sides might negotiate a temporary agreement before a comprehensive nuclear deal.

In the previous round of Geneva talks, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner had asked Abbas Araghchi to present a written proposal. Axios reports that Trump’s stance is zero enrichment, although the U.S. has announced it will consider a plan with a symbolic amount of enrichment, provided that the path to obtaining a nuclear weapon is blocked.
