Axios: Vitkav and Araghchi to meet in Oslo next week
Axios, citing two informed sources, reported that Steve Vitkav, Donald Trump’s special envoy, intends to meet with Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, in Oslo, the capital of Norway, next week to resume nuclear negotiations.
These sources told Axios that a final date for the meeting has not been set, and neither country has publicly confirmed the meeting.
Axios added that Vitkav and Araghchi have been in direct contact during and after the 12-day war, with officials from Oman and Qatar acting as mediators between the two sides.
According to Axios, if this happens, it will be the first direct negotiations between the two countries since President Trump’s unprecedented military strike order on Iran’s nuclear facilities last month.
