Tejarat Bank’s Credit Report Under Scrutiny: From 65 Trillion Toman of Doubtful Claims to 1.2 Trillion Toman Fine

According to Iran Gate News Agency, the latest data released in the financial statements of Tejarat Bank and official statistics from the Central Bank provide a thought-provoking image of the bank’s claims, debts, and commitments. Figures that, if confirmed and thoroughly examined, could raise serious questions about the quality of credit management and the supervisory mechanisms of Tejarat Bank.

Based on this information, the volume of Tejarat Bank’s doubtful claims has exceeded 65 trillion tomans. At the same time, the total non-performing loans of the bank are around 107 trillion tomans, a figure that is significant in assessing the quality of assets and the performance of the bank’s credit system.

In another section of the financial statements, a significant amount is observed regarding the bank’s financial interactions with the banking network and the Central Bank. According to this information, about 1.2 trillion tomans in fines due to overdrafts from the Central Bank have been recorded, and Tejarat Bank’s debt to other banks has reached approximately 125 trillion tomans.

However, one of the issues that could raise more sensitivity is a 3.5 trillion toman loan, which is said to be secured by collateral valued at around 37 billion tomans. If this information is accurate, the ratio between the loan amount and the collateral value raises serious questions about the credit assessment process, risk evaluation, adequacy of guarantees, and the supervision of loan disbursement.

Of course, regarding this case and other mentioned figures, reviewing the documents and contract details, as well as official comments from relevant authorities, can provide a more accurate picture of reality. Simply observing a figure in the financial statements does not necessarily mean a violation has occurred, and interpreting it requires examining the accounting, legal, and supervisory dimensions of the issue.

Nevertheless, the combination of more than 65 trillion tomans of doubtful claims, around 107 trillion tomans of non-performing loans, 1.2 trillion tomans in overdraft fines, and 125 trillion tomans of debt to other banks has put Tejarat Bank’s credit performance more than ever under public scrutiny and the attention of supervisory bodies.

The main question now is how exactly these figures have developed, how much of the claims are collectible, and to what extent the bank’s credit assessment and internal supervision mechanisms have been able to prevent the accumulation of credit risk.
