Baqaei suggests Pelosi’s sanctions against Iran are a crime against humanity

Ismail Baqaei, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, wrote on the social network X on Saturday that the deliberate infliction of pain and suffering on civilians as a political leverage is considered terrorism according to classical definitions.

He made these remarks in response to statements by Nancy Pelosi, who said, ‘Just weaken their economy because they have the support of the people in rural areas. We need to make sure they feel the pain too.’

Baqaei also added that only a malicious and arrogant mindset would consider itself justified in prescribing policies that are based on the suffering of civilians in another country.

These positions are being stated while negotiations between Iran and the United States have resumed in Muscat and the next round is scheduled to take place in Geneva.
