Baqaei: The French Foreign Minister’s statements about Iran’s nuclear weapons are completely ridiculous.
Ismail Baqaei, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, on Friday considered the French Foreign Minister’s statements that Iran is on the verge of building nuclear weapons to be completely ridiculous.
Baqaei wrote in a message on X that this incorrect remark, along with the minister’s overt threat to reinstate sanctions, strengthens the suspicion that France’s continuous stances may turn into a destructive role, a role that not only brings no credit to France but also weakens its position in Europe and on the global stage.
Previously, Amir Saeid Iravani, the permanent representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, on Tuesday reacted to recent statements.
Jean-Noël Barrot, the French Foreign Minister, sent a letter to the Security Council, calling Barrot’s remarks baseless and irresponsible.
On Monday, Jean-Noël Barrot warned after a meeting held behind closed doors at the Security Council regarding the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, that Iran has crossed all the lines it was committed to respecting and that the country is on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons.
He also emphasized that the three European countries, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, will not hesitate to reimpose sanctions on the Tehran government if they perceive a security threat from Iran’s nuclear program.
