The Strait of Hormuz will lose its significance in two years.
Scott Bassant, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, accused the Islamic Republic of using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool to exert pressure on countries dependent on this waterway.
On Tuesday, September 1st, in Asheville, Bassant stated that by creating alternative routes, the dependence of countries on the Strait of Hormuz will decrease over the next two years, and this waterway will lose much of its strategic importance.
He added that in two years, the Strait of Hormuz will merely become another body of water.
