Warning from Besant to parties trading with Iran: We will shut down your business
Scott Besant, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, said on Wednesday in an interview with Fox News that airline companies, the shipping industry, and digital assets could be potential targets for new sanctions.
He emphasized that with the new Treasury Department powers to impose sanctions in these areas, Washington seeks to sever Iran’s connections with the outside world.
In response to a question about potential Russian support for the Islamic Republic, Besant urged countries to refrain from supporting Tehran, claiming that this is the quickest way to end the conflict.
The U.S. Treasury Secretary also warned parties trading with Iran that if necessary, we will shut down your business.
