Bijan Zanganeh, the Minister of Oil in President Rouhani’s government, filed a complaint against Zakani and Jalili.

Bijan Zanganeh, a prominent Minister of Oil in the governments of Mohammad Khatami and Hassan Rouhani, today stated in his letter to the Tehran Prosecutor General that he has filed a complaint against Alireza Zakani and Saeed Jalili for their slanders and insults during the election debates.

Mr. Zanganeh wrote that the slanders and false statements made by Mr. Zakani and Jalili alleging corruption, betrayal, embezzlement of billions of dollars, and the occurrence of crimes in the country without being proven in the judicial authorities constitute defamation, insult, spreading lies, and humiliation, which according to Islamic penal law and the interpretive law of the Islamic Consultative Assembly are criminal acts and warrant criminal prosecution and punishment for the accusers.

Mr. Zanganeh had previously denied the statements made by Saeed Jalili and Alireza Zakani regarding the Crescent case in a video he had published.
