According to reports by BBC News, after a 10% reduction in its workforce over the past five years, BBC plans to lay off or restructure another 500 employees in the next 20 months.

In addition to the previously announced annual savings plan of £500 million, equivalent to €594 million two years ago, BBC is currently implementing an additional cost-cutting plan of £200 million, equivalent to €237 million, announced last March.

BBC is one of the major media outlets in Britain, funded mainly through public broadcasting fees that every household must pay.

In 2023, this media outlet received £36 billion, equivalent to €43 billion, in financial aid.
