The President of the United States is participating in a joint meeting of NATO leaders in Eastern Europe today.
These countries are referred to as the Bucharest Nine group, which includes Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia.
These countries were part of the constituent republics of the Soviet Union or its allies until the collapse of the Soviet Union.
The objective of today’s meeting is to discuss strengthening regional defense in response to Russia’s attack on Ukraine and increasing military assistance to Ukraine to counter Russia.
In his speech yesterday in Poland, Joe Biden described the war in Ukraine as a generational struggle for freedom.
He said that Putin’s lust for power and aggression will surely fail.
