Biden: Netanyahu may want to continue the war in Gaza for political reasons

As discussions continue over Joe Biden’s new plan to end the crisis in the Gaza Strip, the US President has said in an interview with Time magazine that Benjamin Netanyahu might want to continue the war in Gaza for political reasons.

In this interview, conducted on May 28, just a few days before the US President’s new plan to end the war in Gaza was presented and published on Tuesday, June 5, Mr. Biden, when asked if he thinks the Israeli Prime Minister is prolonging the war for political reasons, emphasized that he himself does not comment on this matter but added that there are many reasons why people might come to this conclusion.

Although polls within Israel show that the majority of people support the continuation of the war, they hold the Prime Minister responsible for security failures over the past eight months, and large street protests have become a weekly event in Israel, drawing tens of thousands of people.
