Bolsonaro Breaks His Silence

A few days after the second round of Brazil’s presidential election and the defeat of the country’s president, everyone was waiting for his reaction and public speech. His supporters, with public protests, blocking streets and roads, and even disrupting airports, created serious concerns about a potential election coup by Bolsonaro.

The right-wing Trump-like president of Brazil finally broke his silence. In his speech, without acknowledging defeat or congratulating his opponent, he spoke of respecting and obeying the constitution. His speech was mostly dedicated to praising his supporters and referencing his own ideas. However, his chief of staff announced that the transition of power to Lula da Silva would begin, and the Supreme Court has also confirmed the start of this process.

Now, everyone in Brazil is waiting for January and the threshold of Lula da Silva’s return to the presidency to see Bolsonaro’s reaction in that situation. Bolsonaro’s extreme American supporters, like Steve Bannon, who is a close advisor to Trump, have been claiming election fraud in Brazil for several days.
