President of Brazil: Maduro should be tried in Venezuela, not outside of it
Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the President of Brazil, called for Nicolás Maduro to be tried within Venezuela and not outside of the country, emphasizing that the priority is to restore democracy in Venezuela.
In a television interview on the sidelines of the artificial intelligence summit in New Delhi, he said that if Maduro is to be tried, it should be in his own country, not outside of it. Lula added that Brazil cannot accept a country arresting the president of another country.
He stated that he intends to present this issue in the form of a written proposal to Donald Trump and mentioned the possibility of meeting with the U.S. President next month in Washington.
In the economic sector, Lula emphasized diversifying Brazil’s trade relations and reducing dependency on powers like the United States and China. He called for settling transactions in local currencies instead of the dollar and dismissed any discussion about launching a common currency in the BRICS group.
