The Supreme Court of Brazil has decided to prosecute former President Jair Bolsonaro on charges of attempting a coup and violating the results of the 2022 election
According to CNN, he and 34 others are accused of forming a criminal organization to maintain power and incite riots in Brasília
Bolsonaro has strongly denied these charges, calling it a legal attack on democracy
If convicted, he could face up to 28 years in prison
He had also previously been banned from political activities for eight years due to spreading false information about the election
