Cancellation of Zarif’s Speech at Sharif University

The Islamic Association of Sharif University announced in a statement on Sunday, June 24, that without endorsing any candidate or retracting their previous positions, they intended to invite Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Foreign Minister of the twelfth government, to Sharif University to keep the spirit of political activity alive and avoid passivity.

The Foreign Minister of Rouhani’s government supported Masoud Pezeshkian, the reformist candidate, during the presidential election campaign and has traveled to various cities. Zarif also appeared on a television program as Pezeshkian’s political advisor following the presence of presidential candidates on national TV.

According to the students, Zarif was supposed to engage in discussions about foreign policies with the students, but the association was not granted permission to hold the event.
