CENTCOM rejects IRGC’s claim about U.S. forces’ withdrawal

The U.S. Central Command, CENTCOM, announced on Tuesday that the claim by the IRGC Navy commander about U.S. forces withdrawing to a distance of 600 to 700 kilometers from the Strait of Hormuz is incorrect.

CENTCOM emphasized that U.S. forces remain in the Strait of Hormuz and its surrounding waters, monitoring the situation. The command also referred to the flight of Admiral Brad Cooper, CENTCOM’s commander, over the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday.

Ali Azmaei, the IRGC Navy commander, had previously claimed that U.S. forces had left the Persian Gulf and were stationed at a farther distance from the Strait of Hormuz.

CENTCOM also stated that over the past six months, more than three thousand commercial ships have passed through the Strait of Hormuz with the support of its forces. The U.S. claim about controlling this waterway is CENTCOM’s official stance and has not been independently verified in this report.
