CENTCOM’s naval blockade of Iran will resume at 20:00 GMT on Tuesday.
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that upon Donald Trump’s orders, the blockade of maritime traffic to and from Iranian ports will resume on Tuesday, July 14, at 16:00 Eastern Time, which is equivalent to 20:00 GMT.
CENTCOM stated that this blockade targets vessels heading to or departing from Iranian ports and coastal areas. Vessels that do not violate the blockade will continue to pass through the region’s waters.
According to this statement, the United States previously enforced this blockade from April 13 to June 18. CENTCOM claimed that during that period, it redirected more than 140 ships, disabled 9 ships that did not comply with orders, and allowed over 50 commercial ships carrying humanitarian aid to pass.
CENTCOM urged mariners to follow maritime notices and to contact U.S. naval forces via Channel 16 when operating in the Sea of Oman and routes leading to the Strait of Hormuz.
