The Central Bank initiated mobile payments instead of using bank cards in 6 banks.

The Central Bank announced the launch of the ‘Kahroba’ project, which allows transactions to be made using secure electronic versions of bank cards, replacing physical bank cards on point-of-sale devices.

The Central Bank stated that, in order to diversify payment tools and update the country’s payment network capacities, it has placed the ‘Kahroba’ project on its agenda. Accordingly, banking network customers can register their physical bank cards in mobile-based smart applications.

The Central Bank also emphasized that with the implementation of the ‘Kahroba’ project, it is now possible to conduct purchase transactions using secure electronic versions of bank cards instead of physical bank cards on point-of-sale devices equipped with the latest technology and standards.

According to this report, currently, 6 banks – Keshavarzi, Tejarat, Mellat, Melli, Ayandeh, and Saderat – are covered, and the number of banks in this project is increasing.
