Chaharshanbe Suri Incidents in Iran

The spokesperson for Iran’s emergency services announced that 15 people have lost their lives from the beginning of Esfand until the day of the festival on the last Tuesday of the year.

Iranian health officials say that in the 22 days leading up to Chaharshanbe Suri, 152 people have lost limbs in connection with the making of explosive materials, and about 700 people have suffered eye injuries.

Babak Yektaprest, the spokesperson for Iran’s emergency services, says that on the night of the Chaharshanbe Suri festival alone, four people lost their lives.

Last year, eight people lost their lives on the night of Chaharshanbe Suri.
