The Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army resigned

Herzi Halevi, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army, announced a short while ago that he is resigning from his position due to accepting responsibility for the Israeli Army’s failure in the October 7th attack.

Halevi had previously emphasized that he would step down from his position after the military operations in Gaza concluded.

In a statement released by the Israeli Army on Tuesday, January 23rd, Herzi Halevi informed the Defense Minister that while the Israeli Army is implementing the agreement for the release of hostages and achieving significant accomplishments, he has requested to leave his responsibilities in the army on March 6, 2025.

The statement mentioned that Herzi Halevi emphasized he will participate in the thorough review sessions of the October 7th events and related investigations, and he will strengthen the army’s readiness to face future security challenges.

The Chief of Staff stressed that he will fully and carefully transfer this responsibility to his successor.
