China does not accept criticism or pressure regarding its relations with Russia

On Wednesday, April 11, China announced that it will not accept criticism or pressure regarding its relations with Russia. This stance was taken after Washington warned that if Moscow advances in the Ukraine war, it would hold Beijing responsible.

Kurt Campbell, the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, said on Tuesday, April 10, that Washington will not stand idly by after the extension of Beijing’s cooperation pact with Moscow during the recent visit of a senior Russian diplomat, and it will not declare the situation acceptable.

Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, responded by emphasizing that China and Russia have the right to engage in normal economic and trade cooperation. He added that such cooperation should not be subject to interference or restrictions, and China will not accept criticism or pressure.

Relations between Russia and China have deepened in recent years, and their strategic partnership has increased even more since Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.
