China announced the meeting of representatives of Fatah and Hamas in Beijing.

Lin Jian, the spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Tuesday, April 30, mentioned the official names of the Palestinian groups, stating that representatives of the Palestinian National Liberation Movement and the Islamic Resistance Movement recently came to Beijing and negotiated about reconciliation among themselves.

The spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, without mentioning the time of the meeting of the Palestinian groups, added that both sides have fully expressed their political will to achieve reconciliation through dialogue and negotiation. They discussed many specific issues and positive progress has been made.

Hamas took control of the Gaza Strip in 2007 after a tough battle with Fatah forces.

The Palestinian National Liberation Movement, Fatah, controls the administrative area of the West Bank under Israeli occupation through its Palestinian self-governing bodies.
