Chris Wright: We will use every possible tool to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons
Chris Wright, the U.S. Secretary of Energy, emphasized on Wednesday on the sidelines of the International Energy Agency meeting in Paris that Washington will not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons. He said they have openly spoken about what they would do with nuclear weapons, which is completely unacceptable. He added, therefore, we will prevent Iran from advancing towards nuclear weapons by any means.
Officials of the Islamic Republic have always stated that Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful in nature.
Meanwhile, Iranian and American representatives met on Tuesday in Geneva to discuss preventing the potential U.S. military intervention to contain Tehran’s nuclear program. After these negotiations, Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, stated that an agreement was reached on a series of guiding principles, and based on that, we will move on to writing a text.
However, J.D. Vance, the Vice President of the United States, announced that Tehran has not yet accepted all of Washington’s red lines.
