CIA Chief’s Trip to the Middle East to Secure Gaza Agreement

The American website Axios, citing informed sources, has reported that the CIA chief is entering Cairo, the capital of Egypt, to advance negotiations aimed at the release of Hamas hostages and a pause in the fighting.

Barak Ravid, an Israeli journalist knowledgeable about Gaza negotiations, reported on Friday morning, April 5, in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, citing two sources, that Bill Burns, the CIA chief, is set to meet with David Barnea, the head of Israel’s foreign intelligence agency Mossad, over the weekend.

On Thursday, April 4, U.S. President Joe Biden, in a phone call, explicitly asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to immediately agree to the Gaza negotiation agreement for the return of hostages.
