The topic of freedoms and political and social movements is directly or indirectly addressed in four principles of the Constitution: Principles 9, 40, 27, and Clause 7 of Principle 3. Principle 27, as the most central principle explicitly dealing with the free holding of gatherings, states that the formation of assemblies and marches without carrying weapons is permitted, provided that it does not disrupt the foundations of Islam.
