Collision of a Russian Fighter Jet and an American Drone

A Russian Sukhoi 27 fighter jet intercepted a US military MQ-9 Reaper spy drone and caused it to crash into the Black Sea. The United States condemned this action by Moscow as unsafe.

According to a statement from the US military, two Russian military Sukhoi 27 fighter jets tracked the American spy drone, and at 7:03 AM Central European Time, one of these jets collided with the American drone, causing it to crash. Prior to this collision, Russian jets repeatedly dumped fuel on the MQ-9 drone and performed dangerous maneuvers in front of it.

General James Hecker, commander of the United States Air Forces in Europe and Africa, stated in a release that our MQ-9 drone was conducting its routine operation in international airspace when it was tracked and struck by a Russian aircraft. This collision resulted in its complete destruction. This unsafe and unprofessional action by Russia could have potentially led to the crash of both aircraft.
