Commander of Khorasan Razavi Border Guards: More than 15,000 Illegal Immigrants Returned to Afghanistan

More than 15,000 illegal immigrants have returned to Afghanistan, according to the commander of Khorasan Razavi Border Guards.

Mahmoud Parsafer, the deputy commander of Khorasan Razavi Border Guards, told reporters that in the past four days, the border guards at Taybad border crossing handed over 15,472 unauthorized Afghan nationals to the Afghan representative.

According to IRNA, about 328,000 Afghan migrants who were illegally present in Iran during the first half of this year have been returned to their country through the Khorasan Razavi borders.

Khorasan Razavi province shares a border of 531 kilometers with Turkmenistan to the north and northeast, and approximately 302 kilometers with Afghanistan to the east. Taybad is located 225 kilometers southeast of Mashhad.
