Commemoration of September 11
While Britain mourns the Queen, the other half of the Anglo-Saxon world is holding commemorations for September 11. President Joe Biden has just concluded his speech at the Pentagon.
He commemorated the event by recounting his own memories of the terrorist attack, describing how, as a senator, he was bewildered and stunned by the fire and bloodshed caused by the attacks, and how it united America in the battle against the enemy. He has a personal connection to the aftermath of this event because his son fought in the subsequent Middle Eastern conflicts and lost his life due to the consequences.
He highlighted the revenge his country took on Osama bin Laden during his vice presidency under Barack Obama, and the revenge he himself took on Ayman al-Zawahiri, as significant achievements of America.
