Decline in Iranian Carpet Exports

On Thursday, March 16, the Economic Node website reported, based on Iranian customs statistics, that the weight value of Iranian handwoven carpet exports in the first 11 months of 2022 reached 29 thousand tons, showing a 24% decrease compared to the previous year.

With the decline in Iranian handwoven carpet exports, countries like China, Pakistan, and Turkey have managed to capture part of the Iranian carpet market, and some countries have even started copying Iranian carpets.

This is while in the late 1990s, Iranian carpet exports were annually between 25 to 26 thousand tons, indicating an 88% decrease in current exports compared to those years.
