Deportation of over 300 Afghan citizens from Turkey
The Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation announced on Sunday, November 20, that in the past two days, 325 Afghan migrants have been deported from Turkey to Afghanistan.
In a statement from this ministry, it was mentioned that some of these individuals did not have legal residency documents in Turkey and were transferred by air from Istanbul to Afghanistan.
The statement noted that the International Organization for Migration has provided each of the deported migrants from Turkey with 150 euros in assistance.
Mawlawi Abdul Rahman Rashid, the deputy minister of the Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees, stated that they are in contact with Turkey to resolve the issues of Afghan migrants as quickly as possible.
With the Taliban’s return to power, thousands of Afghan citizens have traveled to Turkey, but in recent months, Turkey has intensified the deportation process of these migrants.
The increase in unemployment, poverty, economic crisis, and fear of retaliatory attacks by the Taliban are major reasons for the escape of Afghan citizens from the country.
