The Deputy Minister of Interior for Security: 5 officers and 8 attackers were killed, and a citizen was taken hostage.
The Deputy Minister of Interior for Security and Law Enforcement of Iran announced moments ago that so far, eight attackers who had assaulted the military headquarters in the cities of Chabahar and Rask in the south of Sistan and Baluchestan have been killed. He stated that this number is likely to increase.
In an interview with IRNA, Majid Mirahmadi added that the remaining attackers are completely surrounded by security forces. He predicted that within a few hours, these individuals, about six in number, will be captured or killed.
He added that the attackers have taken a citizen from Chabahar as a hostage, and the security forces’ operation to safeguard the hostage’s life is being conducted with utmost caution.
Iranian officials have described the attackers as terrorists.
The IRNA news agency reported on Thursday morning that a soldier, a Revolutionary Guard, a Basij member of the security plan, and two law enforcement officers in Chabahar are among the martyrs of Wednesday night’s events in the south of Sistan and Baluchestan.
Halwash, which covers news in Sistan and Baluchestan, previously reported, citing Jaish al-Adl, about the capture of the IRGC’s headquarters in Rask, the command headquarters in Chabahar, police station 12, the intelligence department, and control over the weapons depot during their attack on these bases.
These attacks began on Wednesday night but apparently continued past dawn on Thursday morning. So far, the deaths of five officers have been reported. The Deputy Minister of Interior for Security and Law Enforcement of Iran added that the complete casualty figures will be announced by commanders after the operation concludes.
The Jaish al-Adl organization in Iran is an armed Islamist group opposed to the Iranian government, which calls itself the Army of Justice and Equality and claims to fight for the rights of Sunnis, particularly in the Sistan and Baluchestan province of Iran.
