The Vice Speaker of the Parliament says negotiations with the U.S. are ongoing, but from a position of strength
Hamidreza Haji Babaei, the Vice Speaker of the Parliament, announced that negotiations between Iran and the U.S. are underway, but according to him, reaching a conclusion requires Iran to enter the talks from a position of strength and authority. He said that previous negotiations with the U.S., in his view, were not successful, attributing this to the American side’s lack of honesty. Haji Babaei also emphasized that reaching an agreement that fully satisfies both parties is unrealistic. The Vice Speaker added that as long as Iran does not negotiate with the U.S. from a position of strength, Washington will continue its current approach. These statements come as mediators are also working to bring Tehran and Washington’s positions closer together.
