The Tax Affairs Organization in Iran has given luxury car owners a 4-month deadline to pay their taxes, otherwise they will face restrictions on transfers.
Cars valued over three billion tomans are considered luxury.
Shahin Mostoufi, the Director General of the Tax Audit Office of the Tax Affairs Organization, says that responsibilities have been assigned to the Tax Affairs Organization in the budget law, and they must proceed to calculate and demand taxes from luxury and expensive properties valued over 20 billion tomans, as well as luxury cars valued at three billion tomans.
According to official statistics, the Iranian government has collected over 2 billion and 800 million tomans in taxes from luxury and expensive car owners since the beginning of the current solar year.
In September, the Iranian Tax Organization announced that it had identified 170,000 luxury cars.
In last year’s budget law, cars valued at one and a half billion tomans were considered luxury, but this figure has doubled this year.
