Discovery of One Billion Barrels of Oil in Turkey

Turkish Petroleum Company TPAO has made the largest onshore oil discovery in Turkey with reserves amounting to one billion barrels.

This discovery was made in the province of Şırnak, located in southeastern Turkey, which borders the semi-autonomous region of Iraqi Kurdistan and Syria.

Currently, about 10,000 barrels of oil are being extracted daily from this well, although the target is set at producing 100,000 barrels per day, which is more than double Turkey’s oil production.
